I have been researching the top ten venture capitalist firms over the past week as I build out my website, The Revenue Engine, intended to help entrepreneurs grow their business.

Most of these companies say they offer entrepreneurs high quality coaching and mentoring, not just throwing money into their coffers.

That sounds like a great idea, but one thing about this gave me pause. When I looked at the partners in these VC firms, most of them looked very young, 30-something.

While some of them may have built successful businesses, it’s hard to imagine many of them serving effectively as coaches and mentors.

It happens to be my personal belief that having a high IQ and a MBA from a brand name business school isn’t enough to qualify you as a masterful coach.

One of the premises The Revenue Engine is based on is that, our business coaches not only have a proven track record as entrepreneurs, but at least a decade or two of experience on the front lines of business.

I like people as coaches who are 40, 50, or 60 something. The reason being is that they have faced almost every conceivable issue a business person can face, and can access whatever they learned in the process at a moment’s notice.

If you have significant entrepreneur experience and a passion for coaching and teaching, and are interested in a second career, I would like to talk to you. Just pick up the phone and call +617-953-5252.
